An approximately 80-year-old man was trapped inside a vehicle after an accident that occurred this afternoon on Caminho da Casa Velha, in Funchal. The alert was received at 3 PM and mobilized the Madeirenses Voluntary Firefighters to the scene.
An ambulance and a rescue vehicle were sent to the location, and it was necessary to use proper equipment to remove the victim from the car. The extrication operation allowed the elderly man to be freed from the wrecked vehicle.
After receiving assistance at the scene from the firefighters, the approximately 80-year-old man was transported by ambulance to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital in Funchal. The authorities did not specify the severity of the injuries or the cause of the accident.
