The Brazilian goalkeeper Kaique, formed at Palmeiras, was chosen by Sporting to occupy the position of "shadow" of Rui Silva in the lion club's goal. The young 21-year-old thus succeeds João Virginia in that role of immediate substitute to the first-choice keeper.
Kaique arrives at Sporting after a season at Nacional, where he accumulated competitive experience in Portuguese football. The goalkeeper is also a Brazil Under-20 international, which attests to his status as one of the emerging prospects in the position.
The signing is part of Sporting's strategy to reinforce the depth of their goalkeeper department. With Kaique's arrival, the club secures a young alternative with growth potential for the position that Rui Silva occupies as the first-choice keeper.
