Fernando Pimenta won the gold medal in the K1 1,000 meters event at the canoeing world championships held in Poznan. This victory represents an important achievement for the Portuguese athlete at the international competition.
This was Portugal's second medal at this edition of the Poznan world championships. Previously, the Portuguese team had already secured a bronze through the men's K4 500 meters.
The quartet responsible for the bronze was composed of Gustavo Gonçalves, João Ribeiro, Messias Baptista and Pedro Casinha, who contributed to Portugal's medal tally at the competition.
With these results, Portugal demonstrates its strengthening in the international canoeing scene, adding medals in different competition categories.
