FC Porto hosts City and Sporting hosts Galatasaray at the start of the league phase

FC Porto will host Manchester City in the opening matchday of the league phase of the 2026/27 football Champions League season. The match takes place in Portugal, in the city of Porto, as announced by UEFA.

Sporting, in turn, also starts the league phase at home, against the Turkish side Galatasaray. The home game for the lions completes the start of the Portuguese teams in the European competition.

UEFA was the entity responsible for announcing these matchups, revealing the schedule of the league phase matches for the 2026/27 edition of the Champions League.

Both Portuguese teams thus begin their journey in the top European club competition, with matches against formidable opponents: Porto faces the English side City and Sporting hosts the Turkish side Galatasaray.
