The latest optional Microsoft update for Windows 11 is causing significant problems for users who decided to install it. The package identified as KB5120998, corresponding to build 26200.9278, was promising improvements to the operating system, but ended up causing desktop failures for users. The update was made available as optional through Windows Update, meaning it was not automatically installed by Microsoft for all users.
