Flamengo will renew with Pulgar for three more years and values the number 5

The Flamengo board decided to secure the stay of Chilean midfielder Erick Pulgar, renewing his contract until 2029. The player's contract was set to expire at the end of next year, and the renewal was closed for one more season than initially planned. The club and the player are exchanging documentation for the agreement to be signed.

The renewal included a salary increase, even without Flamengo fully meeting Pulgar's requested values. Additionally, the player's termination fee, which was considered low, around R$ 20 million, was raised. The club took the opportunity to value the number 5 due to his services over the past four years.

The decision to renew with Pulgar came amid the sales of Plata and Wallace Yan, when the board took the opportunity to guarantee the midfielder's continuity. The renewal was also a response to the pursuit from the Arab market, which showed interest in the Chilean player. Flamengo managed to keep the athlete on its roster in light of this external pressure.

The new contract is part of Flamengo's planning to prioritize athletes who may leave the club or who have contracts near the end. Negotiations advanced in recent days, as previously revealed by the blog, and the conclusion of the agreement represents another move by the board within its squad management strategy.
