Zélia Duncan revealed for the first time details about the breakup with Rita Lee, stating it is one of the sorrows she will carry forever. The two were longtime friends and co-composers of the song "Pagu," made in partnership. Unfortunately, they could not make up before Rita Lee's death.
The reason for the disagreement was the tour that Zélia Duncan did with Os Mutantes, the group founded by Rita Lee alongside Sergio Dias and Arnaldo Baptista. Rita herself had said, in an interview, who should sing with the band, and the producers contacted Zélia, who accepted the invitation.
According to Zélia, when she decided to do the tour, Rita stopped talking to her. Zélia tried to reach out, calling to ask about the situation, and Rita responded: "Go have fun with the guys." After that, Rita disappeared and did not want to talk anymore. Zélia said she tried to resolve the situation, but Rita preferred to stay to herself.
Zélia declared that she only had love for Rita Lee and that that moment was very difficult. The years of friendship could not be rebuilt, and the episode remains a permanent pain in the singer's life.
