FC Porto starts with City, Sporting ends in Manchester

SAPO Notícias29 August 2026 at 12:20

Manchester City will be FC Porto's opponent in the first game of the Champions League group stage, scheduled for September 8 at the Estádio do Dragão. The competition draw placed the Portuguese teams against heavyweight clubs on the European scene.

Sporting begins their Champions League participation also in September, more precisely on the 9th, with a home game against Galatasaray at the Estádio José Alvalade. This will be the Lions' first challenge in the competition this season.

The City appears as a prominent opponent in the journey of the Portuguese teams, accompanying both the beginning and the end of the group stage. This association between the English champions and the clubs from Portugal marks this year's edition of the competition.

The two Portuguese clubs thus start their European campaign with intervals of only one day, in a group stage that promises to be competitive for the Portuguese teams.
