Arganil: Alberto Martins de Carvalho Library celebrates 25 years

The Alberto Martins de Carvalho Library, located in Coja, in the municipality of Arganil, will celebrate its 25th anniversary on September 8th, 2026. The celebration marks the period from 2001 to 2026, spanning a quarter of a century of activity.

The date will be marked with a special afternoon dedicated to culture, history and sharing of local community memories. The event aims to bring together users, readers and community members to celebrate this memorable date together.

Through this celebration, the library reaffirms its ongoing commitment to serving the community. Over 25 years, the space has played an important role in promoting reading and access to knowledge for residents of Coja and surrounding areas.

Marvão Castle secures passage to national semifinal of the New 7 Wonders of Portugal

Marvão Castle secured passage to the national semifinal of the New 7 Wonders of Portugal after winning the regional final dedicated to Alentejo and Ribatejo, held at Jardim das Portas do Sol in Santarém. Classified as a National Monument since 1922, the castle stands out for the preservation of its authenticity and its unique relationship with the surrounding landscape. With history dating back to the 9th century, when it was founded by Ibn Maruán, and integrated into the Kingdom of Portugal by D. Afonso Henriques between 1160 and 1162, the monument represents one of the most emblematic testimonies of Portuguese historical heritage. The national semifinal will take place next Saturday, September 5th, in Sintra.
