Santa Catarina Park hosts today the third edition of Funchal Summer Fest. The event is an initiative promoted by the Funchal City Council, through the Youth Division and the Youth and Sports Department. The festival offers visitors activities related to music, gaming and adrenaline.

Marvão Castle secures passage to national semifinal of the New 7 Wonders of Portugal

Marvão Castle secured passage to the national semifinal of the New 7 Wonders of Portugal after winning the regional final dedicated to Alentejo and Ribatejo, held at Jardim das Portas do Sol in Santarém. Classified as a National Monument since 1922, the castle stands out for the preservation of its authenticity and its unique relationship with the surrounding landscape. With history dating back to the 9th century, when it was founded by Ibn Maruán, and integrated into the Kingdom of Portugal by D. Afonso Henriques between 1160 and 1162, the monument represents one of the most emblematic testimonies of Portuguese historical heritage. The national semifinal will take place next Saturday, September 5th, in Sintra.

Aqueduto da Amoreira in Elvas closer to becoming one of the New 7 Wonders of Portugal

The Aqueduto da Amoreira, in Elvas, won first place in the regional final of Alentejo and Ribatejo in the category of Major Works of the New 7 Wonders of Portugal, surpassing the Alqueva Dam. Built between the 16th and 17th centuries, the monument now advances to the national semifinal taking place in Sintra on September 5, where it will seek to secure one of the three places available for the final on September 12. Voting for the semifinal is already underway through phone calls costing 1 euro plus VAT.
