USA plans to use robot dogs in immigration control operations

The North American Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency announced plans to invest approximately two million dollars (approximately 1.7 million euros) in acquiring robot dogs. The objective is to use these robotic devices in operations considered risky for agents.

The robot dogs will be employed to protect ICE personnel during dangerous missions. The technology would allow for reducing the exposure of human agents to high-danger situations.

The decision comes amid immigration control operations in the United States, a politically sensitive and frequently controversial issue in the country. The investment represents a bet on automation and robotics to support law enforcement.
