São Paulo's Military Police established, on average, five disciplinary procedures per day in the first half of 2026 to investigate possible irregularities in the use of body cameras adopted by the corporation. In total, 928 investigations were opened between January and June, representing a jump of 208% compared to the 301 procedures established in the second half of 2025. The data was released in the report by the Public Security Secretariat (SSP).
The adoption of the new body camera model by the São Paulo Military Police occurred after an agreement signed with the Supreme Federal Court (STF). The secretariat detailed that the data refers to the oversight and control of the equipment.
Among the 928 recorded occurrences, 70 cases, equivalent to 7.6% of the total, involved possible camera obstruction. Meanwhile, two investigations, representing 0.21% of the total, raised suspicion of intentional lens deviation. However, the majority of possible nonconformities dealt with other types of unspecified irregularities in the article.
