El Periódico Mediterráneo - General29 August 2026 at 07:20
The Association of Urban and Metropolitan Public Transport (ATUC), which represents companies such as Metro de Madrid and Renfe, requests 12,000 million euros by 2030 to meet the demand for public transport. ATUC's president, Miguel Ruiz Montañez, experts pointed out that Spain currently lacks specialized financing legislation models like those in France (which has had one for nearly 50 years) and Germany (which has had one for 40 years), which is one of the main challenges facing the country's public transport system.
