Lack of global agreement "does not diminish urgency of Portugal acting" on drought, Zero considers

RTP Notícias28 August 2026 at 21:40

The environmental association Zero considered today that the lack of a global agreement to combat drought does not diminish the urgency of Portugal acting autonomously. The organization called on the Government to adopt a proactive prevention and management policy to address the problem. This position comes at a time when no international consensus was reached to address drought in a coordinated manner. Zero therefore argues that Portugal should not wait for global solutions to begin taking concrete measures in response to this situation.
