Flamengo's board took advantage of the sales of Plata and Wallace Yan to secure the stay of midfielder Erick Pulgar, concluding the Chilean player's contract renewal until 2028. The player's contract was set to expire at the end of next year, and the club managed to extend it for one more season. Now, club and player are exchanging documentation for the agreement to be signed.
The renewal included an increase in the termination fee, which was considered low, around R$ 20 million. Even without reaching the amounts requested by the player, Flamengo adjusted the salary and Pulgar accepted the proposal. The club also offered the player's valorization in recognition of his services over the past four years.
The operation was carried out to protect the club against interest from the Arab market, which showed interest in the player. Negotiations advanced in recent days, as the blog had reported, and are part of Flamengo's planning to prioritize athletes who may leave the club or who have contracts nearing expiration.
