Madeiran roller skater Francisca Henriques won the silver medal today in the marathon roller skating event at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto 2026, achieving Portugal's 17th medal at these games. The athlete, who represents Club Sport Marítimo, completed the 42.195 kilometres through the streets of the Italian city in 1:23.15.628 hours.
The marathon roller skating event marked its debut at the Mediterranean Games, with Francisca Henriques finishing in second place on the podium, behind Italian Melissa Gatti, who won the competition.
Jéssica Rodrigues, also from Madeira and an athlete from CDR Prazeres, was the other Portuguese competitor, finishing in fourth place, just missing out on a podium spot. This was Portugal's second silver medal at the Taranto Mediterranean Games.
