Andreas Leknessund won the 7th stage of the Vuelta a España cycling race, outperforming the remaining breakaway riders who were part of the day's escape. The Norwegian rider from the Uno-X team achieved his first victory in a Grand Tour by completing the stage before nightfall.
Tadej Pogacar, who had set a very high pace on the previous stage, was unable to keep up with the breakaway, thus breaking his strategy of controlling the race. The Slovenian maintained the lead in the general classification.
The stage took place between the cities of Jódar and Sierra de Cazorla, covering a total of 190 kilometres. Leknessund proved to be the strongest among the riders who broke away from the main peloton for most of the stage.
With this victory, Uno-X achieves its first success in this edition of the Vuelta a España, demonstrating that second-tier teams can surprise the big favourites on mountain stages.
