Portugal secured their first medal at the Poznan World Boat Athletics Championships, winning bronze in the K4 500 meters event. The Portuguese team was composed of Gustavo Gonçalves, João Ribeiro, Messias Baptista and Pedro Casinha.
The Portuguese quartet failed to retain the European championship title they had previously won, having to settle for third place in the world competition.
The athletes were looking to achieve a kind of revenge from the European Championship, but the race fell short, with the bronze medal rather than the gold they had aimed for.
This medal was the first won by Portugal in this edition of the Poznan World Championships, thus marking a positive result for the Portuguese delegation in the competition.
