SIC Notícias28 August 2026 at 12:55

The president of the Lisbon City Council, Carlos Moedas, met this Thursday with the national director of the PSP to discuss the reinforcement of policing in the capital. Following the meeting, Moedas stated that "the time has come" for the Government to fulfill the promise to reinforce policing in Lisbon.

The meeting, which took place between the mayor and the PSP leadership, did not result in any agreement. According to information reported by SIC, the Portuguese capital may have to wait even longer for the reinforcement of officers on the streets.

The matter has been a constant concern of the Lisbon municipality, which has been pressuring the Government to honor its commitments regarding security. However, negotiations between the parties did not progress.
