Tomás Mateus, rider from the Electromercangtil GR-100 team, became this Thursday the first leader of the 20th edition of the Volta a Portugal de Juniores by wearing the Yellow Jersey. The young Algarve rider achieved the feat of being the fastest in the sprint, surpassing his opponents in the first stage of the competition.
The Volta a Portugal de Juniores started the previous day, beginning four days of competition dedicated to riders in the under-19 category. The event brings together some of the most promising young talents in national and international cycling.
This edition marks the twentieth time the race is held, establishing itself as an important competition for the development of new riders in the Portuguese and international cycling scene.
