China's President demanded the mobilization of all available resources in rescue operations in Tibet, facing an emergency situation in the region. The order comes in the context of a natural disaster that affected a vast area of the territory.
The search and withdrawal operations of residents and tourists in the center of the devastated area were temporarily suspended. The decision to stop the rescue work was related to safety reasons for the teams involved.
The suspension of operations is due to the fact that a vast natural reservoir formed upstream had begun to overflow. This situation represented an additional risk for the populations and for the rescue teams themselves that were operating in the affected area.
