Odair Moniz's family filed an appeal against the decision of the Sintra Court that applied a suspended sentence of three and a half years to PSP officer Bruno Pinto. The family members demand that the officer serve effective imprisonment and that the accessory penalty of expulsion from the police force be applied.
The Public Ministry also appealed the sentence, demonstrating disagreement with the verdict issued by the court. Officer Bruno Pinto, who was tried for crimes related to the case, will shortly return to active service.
The case involved Odair Moniz as the victim, whose death is linked to the police officer's actions. The suspended sentence applied by the Sintra court did not meet the family's expectations, who now await a new judicial decision through the appeal filed.
