Linda Kitchen, 74, filed a lawsuit against Singapore Airlines after losing her husband, Geoff Kitchen, 73, and suffering spinal fractures during severe turbulence on a flight of the airline, in May 2024. The Boeing 777-300ER dropped 54 meters in less than five seconds, causing panic among passengers.

The couple, from Thornbury, near Bristol, in England, was traveling from London on a six-week trip through Singapore, Indonesia, and Australia. About ten hours after takeoff, flight SQ321 was hit by severe turbulence while flying over Myanmar.

According to Linda, the fall happened suddenly. She fell backward and to the side, feeling severe pain. Geoff fell onto her, crushing her against the armrest.

Singapore Airlines previously offered compensation of approximately R$130,000 to those injured in the incident that caused the passenger's death.
