Santos Dumont Airport in Rio de Janeiro was closed on Thursday afternoon after a Embraer Phenom 100 jet, registered as PS-VEE, skidded and went off the runway during landing, coming to a stop on the grass area. The pilot reported that all occupants were unharmed and the landing gear apparently collapsed. The fire department was called, but by late afternoon the aircraft had not yet been removed, keeping the runway closed. At least four flights were diverted to Galeão and another five were affected, with reports of cancellations and difficulties for passengers finding alternative boarding options.
