Iran: International Maritime Organization warns that Strait of Hormuz remains unsafe

The Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Arsenio Domínguez, warned today that the Strait of Hormuz remains insecure, urging shipowners, operators and shipping companies to avoid the crossing until security is guaranteed. The area, through which about a fifth of the world's maritime oil trade passes, has been the scene of growing geopolitical tensions that threaten the security of international navigation.
