Alphabet agreed to pay £260 million to settle a collective action in the UK that accuses Google of abusing its dominant position in the Play Store and charging excessive commissions from app developers. The case, brought by Competition Law professor Barry Rodgers on behalf of British developers, alleges that the company imposed excessive and unjust fees on digital transactions. The settlement awaits approval from the Competition Appeal Tribunal at a hearing scheduled for September.
