Tourist suffers fall on trail and rescue operation will last several hours

A Kazakh tourist, around 30 years old, suffered a fall on a trail that leads to Pico Ruivo, in Madeira, during the afternoon today. The foreign citizen was walking alone when, shortly after lunchtime, the accident occurred. Despite being conscious, he was unable to leave the location on his own, using his mobile phone to call for help through the 112 emergency line. A rescue operation is underway and is expected to last several hours.
A nine-year-old child was seriously injured after falling from the second floor of a building. As soon as the mother realized the accident, she called emergency number 112. The girl was treated at the scene by an INEM medical team and later transported with serious injuries to the Hospital das Caldas da Rainha.
