TCE-PI prohibits fixed monthly payments to volunteers hired by Semec

The Court of Accounts of the State of Piauí (TCE-PI) decided to prohibit fixed monthly payments to volunteers hired by the Municipal Secretariat of Education of Teresina (Semec). According to the Court of Accounts, volunteer work must be spontaneous and unpaid, not generating labor obligations. The decision states that the practice of regularly compensating volunteers constitutes a disguised employment relationship, which violates Brazilian labor legislation.
