Nepal: Devastated infrastructure and mountainous terrain hinder rescue efforts amid thick dark mud

Nepal and China rescue teams face great difficulties reaching survivors in areas devastated by floods in the Himalayan valleys, with the destruction of roads, bridges and communication systems hampering rescue operations. The catastrophe, considered the most devastating in Nepal since the 2015 earthquake, left hundreds dead, with the strong currents damaging dozens of bridges and nearly 40 kilometers of paved roads. In several regions, more than 24 hours after the disaster, the waters have not yet fully receded, leaving villages and roads covered by a thick layer of dark mud, while rescue efforts remain at risk from new floods and landslides.

STJ begins to judge request for Alexandre Nardoni and Anna Jatobá's return to prison after neighbors' petition

A petition organized by residents of Santana, in the North Zone of São Paulo, prompted the LGBTQIAPN+ Pride Association to take to the Superior Court of Justice a request for Alexandre Nardoni and Anna Jatobá to return to prison. The couple, convicted of the death of their daughter Isabella, is accused of violating the conditions of open regime. The writ of mandamus began to be judged by the 5th Panel of the STJ and is expected to continue until September 2.

Arrested in Rio de Mouro with hundreds of doses of cocaine and hashish

A 27-year-old man was arrested by the PSP in Rio de Mouro, Sintra, on suspicion of drug trafficking. The arrest, carried out by the Criminal Investigation Division of Sintra, resulted from the recovery of a vehicle in a situation of breach of trust. During the operation, police seized approximately 599 doses of cocaine and 3,700 doses of hashish, as well as 148.20 euros in cash and two mobile phones. The suspect was brought before the Judicial Authority for the first judicial interrogation, being subjected to the precautionary measure of bi-weekly presentations.
