Ratko Mladic, the "butcher of the Balkans" convicted of the Srebrenica genocide, has died

He died at age 83 Ratko Mladić, the former Bosnian-Serb military commander known as the "Butcher of the Balkans," who was convicted by the International Criminal Court for genocide for the Srebrenica massacre in 1995, in which more than 8,000 Muslim men and boys were killed. Mladić was sentenced in 2017 to life in prison for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide, having fled for years before being captured in 2011 in Serbia.
Russia threatened to attack targets in the United Kingdom in retaliation for supplying missiles to Ukraine.
