Four people die after small plane crashes in shallow waters in Alaska

Four people died after a small Piper PA-24-260 aircraft crashed into shallow water near Seldovia, Alaska, on Wednesday (26). The aircraft took off from the local airport around 1:15 p.m. and sank to approximately 4.5 meters deep, near a marsh. The rescue was hindered by the freezing water, which can reach 3°C, and the bodies were only recovered around 6:30 p.m., when the tide went down. The identities of the victims have not yet been released and the NTSB is investigating the cause of the accident.
