Two die and ten are injured during fire in building in Vasco da Gama

A large-scale fire hit a residential building on Rua do Bonfim in Vasco da Gama, North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, on Wednesday night, resulting in two deaths and ten injured. Nine victims were taken to Hospital Municipal Souza Aguiar. The Fire Department was called around 9:30 PM and mobilized approximately 50 military personnel and 20 vehicles from various fire stations to combat the flames. Teams remain on site carrying out the work of extinguishing embers. The bodies of the fatal victims were taken to the Medical Legal Institute for identification.
A nine-year-old child was seriously injured after falling from the second floor of a building. As soon as the mother realized the accident, she called emergency number 112. The girl was treated at the scene by an INEM medical team and later transported with serious injuries to the Hospital das Caldas da Rainha.
