The Treasure of Villena, one of the most valuable Bronze Age object sets in Europe, was stolen from the Archaeological Museum of Villena, in Alicante, Spain. Spanish authorities are investigating the theft, which reportedly occurred during the night, without the perpetrators of the crime yet having been identified. The treasure, composed of gold and electrum pieces dating from approximately 1000 B.C., represents an archaeological heritage of incalculable value for the region and for European history.
