Castellón, the province most affected by fires, loses almost one million euros in fire prevention in 2026

The province of Castellón was the most affected by forest fires during the summer of 2026 and, at the same time, is the one that received the least investment from the Strategic Municipal Fund for Fire Prevention and Forest Management of the Valencian Community, losing almost one million euros. This fund, created after the Forest Law of 1993, is intended to support municipalities in fire prevention and forest management actions, including the maintenance of protection strips, creation of strategic management points, maintenance of forest tracks, and installation of hydrants and water tanks.
