September 11: trial of the mastermind of the attacks to begin in June 2028

The trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, considered the mastermind behind the September 11, 2001 attacks, will begin in June 2028. Mohammed was detained in Pakistan in 2003 and has been held at the Guantánamo Bay maximum security prison since 2006. He is accused of having proposed the idea of the attacks to Osama bin Laden and of having supervised the entire operation that killed nearly three thousand people.
