Ecuador announced joint anti-drug operations with Colombia and the United States along its border, where armed groups operate. President Daniel Noboa criticized the previous Colombian administration for not effectively combating organized crime in the region. With the change of government in Colombia, with the arrival of right-wing politician Abelardo De la Espriella, the tense diplomatic relations between the two countries have shifted. Ecuador's Defense Minister, Gian Carlo Loffredo, reported that both governments will send military units to the border to carry out joint surveillance operations against the armed groups.
