Supermarket workers led private payroll-linked loan contracts in the first half of 2026, representing 6.4% of contracts in the meutudo database, followed by hospital attendants (3.3%), building cleaning (2.7%), and road freight transport (2.4%). The survey, conducted with 1.7 million contracts, shows that healthcare professionals obtain the highest average amounts, with emergency rooms (R$ 3,307) and hospital attendants (R$ 3,199) standing out, while supermarkets register an average of R$ 2,230 and teleservice R$ 1,815. The profile of borrowers is young, with 55.3% under 35 years old, with the 25 to 34 age group being the most representative at 40.4% of the total.
Meo saw its revenues grow 0.3% to 1.297 million euros in the first half, although in the second quarter it recorded a drop in billing of 4.6% to 648 million euros, reflecting competitive pressure in the consumer segment, offset by the expansion of the energy and business services business. The company highlighted the completion of the sale of 65% of Intelcia and the Covilhã Data Center as part of its portfolio optimization strategy.
