Five new businesses create nine jobs in Madeira

Five new business projects will create nine jobs in Funchal, through the CRIEE program of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, with an investment of 281 thousand euros. The contracts were signed at a ceremony led by regional secretary Paula Margarido, who highlighted the program's potential to help people in unemployment situations to create their own businesses.

Fosun more than doubles profit to 217 million in the first half

Fosun, the shareholder of Fidelidade and BCP, more than doubled its profit in the first half of 2024, totaling 217 million euros (1.7 billion yuan), an increase of 160.3% compared to the same period last year. Revenue remained stable at around 11,094 million euros, while investment in innovation and technology grew 16.7% to 4.2 billion yuan. Fidelidade, with 30.1% market share in Portugal, saw its net profit rise 23.8% to 165 million euros, despite losses caused by storms. Chairman Guo Guangchang stated that the strong profit recovery validates the business optimization strategy and that the group is well positioned to accelerate growth.
