Circulation of electric vehicles in Rio: city hall publishes new decree with more detailed rules; see what is in effect

The city of Rio de Janeiro published a new decree (No. 58537) with more detailed rules regarding the circulation of electric vehicles in the city, more than four months after the first regulation generated doubts. The new text, which replaces the previous decree, brings more precise definitions for electric bicycles, mopeds, and self-propelled vehicles. The main change is that self-propelled vehicles, which had been equated to mopeds, now have their own rules again, being able to return to bike paths without the need for registration or a driver's license. The decree was published in the city's Official Gazette.
